I had fun hanging out with the girls…

It’s 2 days before I leave and I just had to meet up with Miss Wong during my last 2 days in Singapore!! Woke up pretty late today and feeling kind of lost. Actually, I’ve been having this lost feeling for quite a while but generally, once I’ve gotten out of bed and get on with my life, it gets better as I know I have stuffs to do.

Finally brought my skirt for alteration at the school that I used to attend and told my ex-teacher that I’m leaving Singapore this Wednesday. She gave me her email address and wished me luck. I’m due to pick up my skirt from her tomorrow and it cost me only SGD5.00. I wonder if I could ever get such cheap alteration service in London. Sigh…I think I would have to get used to spending a lot more in UK as compared to Singapore for the same things that I’m buying.

I also managed to buy the big zip lock bag used for storing and compressing my clothing’s in order for everything to fit into my luggage before heading to Miss Wong’s place. It’s been ages since I last step foot at her place. However, the moment I am at her place, memories of us spending quality times during our childhood days just flooded my brain. Although much of the furniture arrangement has changed but the familiarity of everything still exist. Faith was during her homework while Miss Wong and I tried to sort out our webcam function on our lappie to ensure that everything works out fine before I leave Singapore. Unfortunately, her MACBOOK doesn’t seems to support SKYPE nor MSN. I’m not quite sure how we can work this out, I shall try downloading ichat and see if we could video conference each other that way.

Took photos of Miss Wong and her lovely daughter Faith and also did some video shooting of Faith playing her violin. She looks so cute with her violin and did an amazing job playing it. I asked Miss Wong if she had anything to say to me before I leave and all she could say is "Quickly come back!!" Hehehe….We were all hunger, so I demanded Miss Wong to cook her famous eggs and cheese omelet for us. The whole cooking process is really tedious considering she only fried an egg. Firstly, she’ll place newspaper all over the stove and after she is done with cooking, she started mopping the end kitchen floor!! No wonder she doesn’t cook that often at home. If I had to do so much chores just for flying an egg, seriously making a phone call for takeaway service seems much more effortless and enticing.

Met up with Mr Ling around 7.30p.m. at the New York New York restaurant at AMK Hub for dinner with Miss Wong and Faith. The reason why we chosen this place is because we are curious to see how big is this "Big Yankee’s Burger" and it was really really huge!! We also ordered buffalo wings for Faith as it’s one of her favorite dish!! Mr Ling was late and Faith kept telling us the buffalo wings are getting cold. Poor Faith couldn’t have her buffalo wings, not until Mr Ling showed up!! After having the burger and buffalo wings, the four of us shared an ice-cream with waffles dessert that was really yummy before calling the night.

I’ve been thinking if I should change my blog elsewhere which provides me with better facilities such as allowing me to load more photos and having better interface.

Any recommendations?

Happy Birthday Mr Ling

Yesterday was a very special day for 2 very important men in my life. It’s Mr Ling’s and Kaiwei’s birthday. I still remembered when I first found out that they both shared the same birthday, Kaiwei asked me how I am going to split my time between both of them. I clearly remembered my answer was to spend the eve of their birthday celebrating for Kaiwei and the actual day celebrating for Mr Ling.

However, Kaiwei was already in USA and that saved me the trouble of celebrating his birthday. Haha evil me. Nevertheless, I would not forget wishing this beloved friend a sincere "Happy Birthday" via a simple text.

Supposed to accompany Mr Ling to his medical checkup at the National Skin Center at 9.30a.m. However, the birthday boy overslept and by the time he woke up, he didn’t have time to pick me up. After discussing about the cost of me taking a cab down to the Skin Center, we both thought it’s better that he meets me after this checkup to save money. So in the end, I managed to catch a couple more hours of beauty sleep before meeting him.

He came over to my place and waited for me patiently to get ready to leave the house. It has been a long time since he came into my room and he is shocked to see that I still have so much stuffs in my room that I didn’t ship to London. I told him that I only shipped those essential stuffs to London and the remaining stuffs that he saw in my room aren’t going with me to UK. Anyway, I gave him the presents I’ve gotten for him. I bought him a Creative Webcam, it’s the same model that I’m using as well as a Braun shaver blade to replace his old one. We both know that his existing shaver blade is no longer doing the job and desperately needs to be replaced. And I know that Mr Ling would not want to waste the money in getting it replace as one of such blade is pretty expensive, so I decided to give it to him as a present.

We had "Teochew" porridge at the coffeeshop outside my place, this is one of usual dining place cos I love eating "Teochew" porridge. Initially, I wanted to bring him to a fancy restaurant for lunch but he said he would prefer to eat at a coffeeshop.

After lunch, we went back to his place to rest as he needs to send his car for servicing at about 3.00p.m. at the workshop behind his flat. In order to spend our time wisely, he dropped me off at a hair salon before visiting the workshop so that I can trim my hair and get a hair treatment. As he is a known workaholic, after he is done with servicing his car, he sneakily went for a meeting for his work, so I went over to his place to watch telly after I’m done with my hair. Because I was in his room the whole time, I didn’t even realized that the pipe in his mom’s room toilet has burst and the water flowed out from the toilet to his parent’s room. When he got home at about 7.00p.m., he got shocked and we ended up clearing the mess. Sigh…

We then headed to Katong to meet up with his 2 of his colleagues for dinner and then proceeded to Parkway Parade to meet up with his remaining colleagues for a drink at the McDonald’s cafe. His colleague got him a cake with a candle. I thought it was pretty awesome. The bunch of us just said there at the cafe, chatting and laughing. What a simple and down to earth way of celebrating Mr Ling’s birthday.

Not many people appreciate the beauty of this song

This is a really really old song and I’m not sure why at this very moment, the lyrics of this song just kept ringing in my mind. It’s ringing so loudly that it’s almost like it’s crying out loud to be heard. It’s just one of those days in my life that I’m in the mood for some philosophy about life.

Well everyone perceive life in a very different way and many times, the people you hang out with or your religion plays a very big part on how you look at life as a whole. Being a Christian, I am taught to be optimistic about life because I know "God is with me and no one can be against me". However, in reality, being truly optimistic is not exactly a simple task to do. In God’s teaching, as a Christian, we should always choose to do the right thing in every part of our life but how many times can we truly do that?

I find it hard to express myself at times and I think this is where music plays a big part in my life. To me, music is generally separated into 2 distinctive parts, the rhythm and the lyrics. I am definitely a very "lyric" person, the first thing about a song that would really catch my attention is the lyrics of a song. A great song with great lyrics is like a great poem and being a big fan of poetry (although I’m not considered an expert in this field), I just see it as a very beautiful piece of art. I’m amazed by the ability of song writers and poets who could put simple words together and make a sentence means more that what it’s suppose to mean.

I think this song is a simple example of how a song can bring out a philosophy of life. I bet many people would have heard and know of this song but have never truly give a serious thought about the meaning between the lines of this song. Actually come to think of it, there isn’t really many different words used in this song. I think I watched this movie during one of the days when I was still in Yishun Secondary. In my secondary school, we can rent the movies and watch them in a small room within the library which not many people are aware of and this is one of the movie that I watched. The tag line of this movie is "Friends are the people who let you be yourself and never let you forget it". This movie talks about many difficulties the 4 leading ladies faced in their lives and how their friendships sustain them during their difficult times.

This movie really showed us the importance of friendships and this song in it’s simple way has exhibited the very importance of life i.e. which is no matter good times or bad times, we must be strong and continue to exhale.

"Exhale"
- Sang by Whitney Houston
- Written by Babyface (One of my favorite singer cum songwriter)

Everyone falls in love sometimes
Sometimes it’s wrong
Sometimes it’s right
For every win
Someone must fail
But there comes a point when
When we exhale

Chorus:
Saying shoop shoop shoop
Shoo be doo shoop shoop yeah
Shoo be doo shoop shoop
(All you got to to say is shoo be doo)
Shoo be doo shoop shoop
Shoo be doo shoop shoop

Sometimes you’ll laugh
Sometimes you’ll cry
Life never tells us
The when or why
When you’ve got friends to wish you well
You’ll find your point when
You will exhale

Saying shoop shoop shoop
Shoo be doo shoop shoop yeah
Shoo be doo shoop shoop
(All you got to to say is shoo be doo)
Shoo be doo shoop shoop
Shoo be doo shoop shoop

Hearts are often broken
When there are words unspoken
In your soul there’s
Answers to your prayers
If you are searching
For a place you know
A familiar face somewhere to go
You should look inside yourself
You’re halfway there

Saying shoop shoop shoop
Shoo be doo shoop shoop yeah
Shoo be doo shoop shoop
(All you got to to say is shoo be doo)
Shoo be doo shoop shoop
Shoo be doo shoop shoop

First snap shot of what to expect…

Air tickets have been booked and I’m officially be flying on 13/08/2008 (Wednesday) @ 12.45p.m. in SIA A380 Business Class flight.

The initial plan was for me to fly on 08/08/2008 (Friday) but I’ve been told by most of my colleagues to try to get the flight on SIA A380. Called up SIA to check the dates which I can take the SIA A380 from Singapore to London and 13/08/2008 is the earliest possible. Honestly, I’ve no idea what is the big deal with this plane but it seems it’s the most luxuries plane that SIA have. Hopefully SIA over sell the economy class tickets and upgrade me to first class!! Wahahaha

Accommodation wise, for the first month, I’ll be staying in the "Circus Apartment" that will be fully paid by my company and subsequently, I’ll have to source for my own permanent accommodation. Credit Suisse have hired a property agent in London to help me out and I’m due to make an arrangement to meet up with her once I’m in London. On my part, I’ve also started searching for my permanent residence via the "http://www.intolondon.co.uk/" and "http://www.gumtree.com/" websites. Hopefully I can a really nice and affordable apartment!!

Feeling: Pretty excited now!!!

London here I come…

It’s scary when the departure date for me to leave my beloved country is drawing near….I’ve been doing loads of packing but every time, there just seems to be more things I think I should be bringing to London and there is no such thing as "I’ve brought enough."

Today, the Crown Relocation personnel who are in charge of my moving my stuffs via air freight came at 9.00a.m. to pack my stuffs. I’m given a total allowance of 114kg worth of stuffs to bring over to London. Before they weigh the stuffs I’m bringing, I thought I’ve already hit the limit of 114kg. However, after loading all my stuffs, it came up to 4 boxes which only weigh a total of 72kg. Thank God but at the same time I felt very "lu gee" cos I can still bring so much more. Then again, I really had no idea what else is there for me to bring lor.

After the movers left, I thought to myself that, actually I don’t really have a lot of things. I have practically moved all my stuffs to London and it only filled 2 big boxes and 2 small boxes. I’m not sure if this is a good or bad thing but at least, to a certain extent, I think I’m pretty mobile as I don’t have a lot of baggage if I had to move from one place to another.
